Event Information

Welcome to the South & West Wales OnBoard Acorn Llangorse Regatta. The event is open to all competitors 16 years and under on the 31/12/2017, and includes main fleet racing and OnBoard Regatta coached racing and windsurfing.

Competitors must meet Welsh eligibility for championship titles.

RYA sailing pathway classes such as Optimist, Topper, RS Feva and General Handicap are included in the event.

The South & West Wales Acorn Llangorse OnBoard Regatta will be held at the Acorn Site based on Llangorse Lake in conjunction with Llangorse Sailing Club on the 2nd and 3rd September 2017.

OnBoard Regatta competitors, stg 2 ability and possibly their first event have the option of sailing for either Saturday or Sunday, at a cost of £15 per day (entry and registration on the day or in advance).

Main fleet competitors can enter and register on the day, however there may be a late entry fee. No late entry fee for Regatta Fleet.

Volunteering at the Event

Event Online Entry and Registration – NOW OPEN

Registration for the event at Acorn Site will open on Friday 2nd September  from 17.30-19.30, and Saturday morning from 8.30 until 9:30. Competitor briefing at 10.15.

Fleets Eligibility
 Sailing Main Fleets – Alpha Course
General Handicap RYA recognised junior classes which are not included below such as RS Feva and Laser classes (single-handed and double-handed dinghies).
Topper Silver Sailors (including Topper 4.2) who have completed club open training, the CYRC series or regularly raced at their local club.
Topper Gold Sailors of Gold or Silver standard at Regional or CYRC events.
Optimist Silver Sailors who have completed club open training, the CYRC series or regularly raced at their local club.
Optimist Gold Sailors of Gold or Silver standard at Regional or CYRC events.
 Sailing  OnBoard Fleets – Bravo Course
OB General Handicap RYA recognised junior classes which are not included below – single-handed and double-handed dinghies.
OB Topper Training Sailors competing at their first event or with little race experience.
OB Optimist Training Sailors competing at their first event in wooden or fibreglass Optimists with little race experience.
OB Optimist “Bat” Young sailors competing in Plastic Optimists.
 Windsurfing  All windsurfers welcome
National Squad (Welsh or GBR) are not eligible to sail their “normal” class of boat, but may enter in a different class.

 Acorn Adventure

Pods and Camping beside the Lake – Exclusive Use of the Acorn Site

For the 2017 regatta, the Royal Oak centre accommodation has been exclusively booked for the purposes of the regatta.  New pod accommodation or bring your own tent camping.  Assume the pods are 4 berth units, x20 available.  Camping is available on the main field overlooking Llangorse lake.

Please do not drive on the grass.  Once boats are dropped off, vehicles are to be taken off site onto Llangorse common car park. No parking on the centre grass areas.

Acorn will provide a café facility offering hot and cold food/drinks.

Shower and drying room facilities available.

Fire risk:  No cooking in tents or pods – away from all accommodation.

No wet kit in pods.

Arrival time:  Friday 1st September from 2pm.

Departure time:  Sunday 3rd September at 6pm.

Pod fees: (per person)

Adult                      –               £20 (2 nights) max 4 persons

Children (U11)      –               £15 (2 nights)

Camping Fees: (per person)

Adult                      –               £10 (2nights)

Children (U11)      –               £8   (2 nights)

Note:  Any retailers must seek the permission of Acorn Head Office before commercially operating on the premises.  A small fee will be required.

Lakeside Llangorse Camping and Caravan Park

campingLakeside Camping and Caravan Park is within a five minute walk from the lake and Acorn site.

You can book a tent or motorhome pitch. The Park also hires out static caravans.
